The 4 mm Randz Court or 4 mm Flobert Short cartridge is an annular percussion cartridge that only uses a fulminating capsule as an impeller. It is one of the smallest ring percussion cartridges in the world and is only used in Europe.
It was developed in 1842 by the French gunsmith Nicolas Flobert , it is one of the oldest ring-shaped percussion cartridges that are still sold. The 4 mm Randz Court uses as a bullet a No. 7 lead post. It is not exactly 4 mm, it is actually 4.5 mm in diameter and produces an impact energy of less than 30 joules , which is why many legislations of the European Union are very permissive regarding the use of this cartridge.
