Developed by FN Herstal in Belgium, the 5.7x28mm cartridge has become known for its distinctive bottleneck case design and use in specialized pistols and personal defense weapons. Hornady BLACK ammunition brings a varmint-style projectile to this cartridge with a 40 grain V-MAX bullet featuring a polymer tip, precision-formed jacket, and lead core. The pointed tip is designed to initiate rapid expansion and fragmentation on impact, while the bullet's aerodynamic shape helps maintain an efficient flight path. Hornady developed the BLACK line to offer ammunition tailored to the characteristics of specific firearm platforms and cartridge applications, making this load a specialized alternative to conventional 5.7x28mm full metal jacket ammunition.
