Follow up review. 11 hogs taken, 100 to 160 lbs. in Oklahoma. All with 18.5 bbl Mini 14's All but two inside 100 yds. Both of them were with 60 gr partitions, pass thru's, good rounds. Just worked out that way. 4 were Fusions 7 were the Winchesters but I can't catch a Winchester round, 35 yds. to 80 yds, all were pass thru's with excellent explosive exhalations of body fluids, great blood trails. Best measured wound track was 11 inches of mammalian tissue, hide and hair, bones, meat, blood and other stuff. Federal Fusion was fully used up in close range encounters, mushroom fully consumed the shank and did not exit. Failed to add a off side blood trail. That ain't good. After 45 or 50 yds, they passed thru the hog also. After doing some shooting over a coronagraph I note that the BC of this round is low, obviously, and it looses speed and energy quick. 100 to 125 would be my limit on anything over 100 lbs. There a lot of good rounds out there, this is one of the very best I have seen for terminal performance. Ballistically, well maybe not so much. As an SD round, take it outside. As a hunting round, I would like to have more. Sam's sold out. Guess I gotta wait.
Ordered 5 boxes of this for hunting hogs. Received today. Fired 5 rounds, damn near went broke. They are expensive, but they are accurate. Crono'd 2909 avg. for the 5 thru an 18.5 bbl. 1.75" group, slow fire. Performance of the projectile on game yet to be seen, but so far, thing are promising. Going to compare to Federal Fusion 62 gr bonded as soon as I can find some. So far, this has impressed me. Thanks SG.
My accuracy results from a 16.1" Daniel Defense rifle with chrome-lined barrel, using an Aimpoint and a magnifier, at 100 yards, are consistent 1.9-2.1 MOA 10 shot groups shot from a bench while using the magazine as a monopod. I am very content with this level of accuracy from a true bonded bullet, considering the platform.
Expensive ammo....But it's L.E. and good stuff.
